Hello Everyone!
I wanted to start a little check-in with you on the off week of the podcast. I thought it would be fun to do a 1-1-1 format, so every other week I’ll check in with 1 question, 1 update, and 1 takeaway.
Let’s get right to it.
1 Question:
Yesterday, I asked this question on LinkedIn but I definitely want to hear from you on this one too. I’m working on a few series for the Connect the Dots podcast. One of the ideas is around the language we use at work. Every company and industry has their own jargon and acronyms. But I'm not talking about that language.
I've been reading the book, Permission to Feel, over the last few months and it introduces the Mood Meter. This meter gives us more vocabulary around our feelings and emotions. Many of them, I have never thought to use in describing how I feel. This is what sparked this question for me.
So now I'm asking you this question…
What words should we start using at work?
Comment and let me know what you think.
1 Update:
You may notice the podcast artwork change in the next few weeks so I wanted to give you a heads up on why (cause I’m really excited about it).
First, I am changing podcast hosts. Sorry Substack…I love you for this newsletter, but the podcast, not so much. Honestly, it’s time for me to go with a host that has more features, data, etc etc.
Second, I have been working to really focus in on that topics that I cover on the podcast. I want to make sure I’m serving you in the best way possible. I have a passion for helping people become better leaders so they can lead from whatever they are. In that spirit, I’m updating the name of the podcast to “Connect the Dots - Lead the Way.”
Don’t worry I’m still going to bring the fun, the facts, and my faith. More to come as this move happens.
1 Takeaway:
I have been loving Velma Knowles YouTube series called, “Your Leadership Chat.” She interviews leaders from all over and talks about the leaders that impacted their journeys. It’s really a great watch or listen. Make sure you subscribe and turn on notifications so you don’t miss when my episode airs in the future.

Plus she puts up YouTube Shorts with helpful advice. Check her out at velmaknowles.com.
That will wrap up this first 1-1-1 check-in. I hope you have a fantastic rest of your week. I’ll see you back here next Wednesday for the final part of the Unlocking the Value of Learning and Development in Business series.
Laughter, Love, and Blessings,
Heather
